Villains and Victims

It is tempting to label the experiences in our lives, to create sense and order we label people, ideas, relationships “good or bad”. The truth however is that nothing is ever all good or all bad.

We see this a lot in our culture when talking about relationships. There is the Villain, Hero and the helpless Victim. When we view a person or ourselveswith a singular lens, we risk missing the reality of our lives and we can remain stuck.

Within each of us is the villain and the victim. When we learn to accept these parts of ourselves we release their power and we can BE in relationship in a healthier and more present way. As we accept these parts within ourselves, we also are able to see that our partner, husband, wife, friend has these parts as well and we develop deeper empathy, leading to richer relationship.
